Law firm SEO services built around qualified enquiries

People looking for a lawyer search in two moods: urgently, after something has happened, and carefully, while they work out whether they have a case. We build for both, with practice-area pages your lawyers sign off, a clean local presence, visibility in AI answers, and an intake path that respects the rules of your profession.

Someone looking for a lawyer is rarely browsing. Either something has just happened, an accident, an arrest, a letter from the other side, or something is about to, a divorce, a business sale, a visa deadline. They are anxious, they have questions they are slightly embarrassed to ask, and they are deciding who to trust with them.

Search is where most of them start. This page sets out how we help a firm be found and chosen at that moment, what it costs, and what we will not do.

Who is this for?

Firms of two to a few dozen lawyers that want more enquiries of a particular kind, not just more visits. In practice that is usually one of these.

A firm with a good referral base and almost no search presence, where every new client comes from someone who already knew you, and the people searching for your practice area never find you.

A firm that wants to grow one practice area, such as employment, immigration, family or commercial disputes, and needs to compete with firms that have been publishing about it for years.

A firm in a contested consumer area, such as personal injury, where a few firms spend heavily on ads and directories dominate the organic results, and the question is where a smaller firm can realistically win.

If you need a new brand or a full site build, we are not the right first hire. We work on the site you have and say plainly if it is holding everything back.

How do people actually search for a lawyer?

In our research on legal results pages, searches fall into four groups.

Urgent local searches. A practice area plus "lawyer near me" or a city name. The page is led by ads and the map results, and the choice is made quickly on reviews, proximity and whether someone answers the phone.

Question searches. "How long does a divorce take", "can I be fired for", "what happens after a car accident claim". These are informational and often come well before anyone calls. Health and money topics like these are treated by search engines as "your money or your life" content, held to higher standards of expertise and trust.

Evaluation searches. "Best employment lawyer in" a city, firm names plus "reviews", comparisons of fees. Here directories and review platforms often outrank firms themselves.

Name searches. People referred to you search your firm or a lawyer's name before they call. What they find is your profile, your reviews and your directory listings.

What do AI answers do for legal searches?

For process and rights questions, Google frequently shows an AI Overview summarising the steps, often with a note to consult a lawyer, and cites a handful of pages: government sites, legal publishers, and sometimes firms with clear explanatory pages. Assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity answer in more depth and, asked for a recommendation, name firms. In our observation those names come mostly from legal directories, review platforms and "best lawyers" lists, not from firms' own homepages.

So there are two opportunities. A practice-area page that answers the process question clearly and accurately, reviewed by a named lawyer, can be the page that gets cited. And a firm whose details and practice areas are consistent across the directories that assistants read is far more likely to be the one they name.

What does SEO look like for a law firm?

It starts with structure. Each practice area you want to grow gets its own page, and where the area is broad, pages for its main matters: in family law, for example, divorce, child arrangements and financial settlements are different searches with different worries. Each page explains the process, the typical timeline, what affects the cost, what the client needs to bring, and what to do first. A lawyer at the firm reviews it and is named on it with their credentials.

Then local presence. Each office needs a complete Google Business Profile with the right categories, accurate hours and a steady flow of genuine client reviews, requested within your profession's rules. That is our local SEO work.

The technical base sits underneath: indexing, speed on phones, a clean URL structure for practice areas and locations, and structured data that describes the firm, its lawyers and its offices consistently. That is technical SEO.

Links come from where lawyers are genuinely discussed: bar and professional associations, legal directories, law school and community involvement, speaking and commentary in the press. Commentary on a changing law is one of the few link sources that works reliably for firms, because journalists need a qualified quote. We do not buy links. See link building.

How does GEO work for a law firm?

Our GEO work for firms has three parts.

Directory hygiene. We list the legal directories and review platforms that matter in your jurisdiction, check that every profile names the same practice areas, offices and lawyers, and complete or correct them. Inconsistent profiles are one of the commonest reasons an assistant leaves a firm out.

Quotable pages. Each practice-area page opens with a short, direct answer to its main question, under a heading phrased the way clients ask it. Assistants lift those passages; long introductions about the firm's values give them nothing to quote.

Measurement. Each month we run a fixed set of client questions in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI features, such as "best immigration lawyer in" your city or "how much does a divorce lawyer cost", and record whether your firm is named, whether it is linked, and which sources were cited instead.

Where does CRO fit?

Legal enquiries are high value, so small losses in intake are expensive. The common ones: a phone number that is not tappable on mobile, no indication of whether the first call is free, a contact form that asks for the whole story before a name, no way to get in touch outside office hours, and practice-area pages that end without a next step.

Our CRO work maps the path from a practice-area page to a booked consultation, on a phone first, then removes friction and tests changes where traffic allows. We also help you track which enquiries turn into clients, so the report can say which pages bring cases rather than just calls.

How do we report?

Weekly, in a portal, in plain language. For a firm, the numbers that matter are:

  • calls, forms and consultation bookings by practice area, tracked in GA4 and, where you share it, your case management system;
  • rankings and map positions for the practice areas and locations in the plan;
  • business profile actions: calls, direction requests and website visits;
  • monthly, how often assistants name or cite the firm for the tracked questions.

We never ask for client data, and we set up tracking so no case details reach an analytics tool.

What happens in the first 90 days?

  1. Week 1: audit

Site crawl, mobile speed, practice-area structure, business profiles, directory listings, the intake path, and a first run of client questions in the AI assistants.

  2. Week 2: plan

A written plan by practice area with owners and dates, the pages to build or rewrite, and the directory fixes. You and a partner approve it.

  3. Weeks 3 to 6: base and listings

Technical fixes, profile and directory cleanup, review requests running within your rules, and intake fixes on mobile.

  4. Weeks 5 to 12: practice-area pages

Pages go live in weekly batches, each reviewed by a named lawyer, while outreach for commentary and listings begins.

  5. Every week: report

What moved, what moved it and what is next.

Ninety days usually shows movement in local results, directory visibility and intake. In contested areas it is not enough to own the head terms of a large city, and we will tell you that before you sign.

Where can a smaller firm realistically win?

Rarely on the head term. "Personal injury lawyer" plus a large city is held by firms and directories with years of links and large advertising budgets, and attacking it directly is a long, expensive project with little early evidence.

The ground a smaller firm can take sits one level down: the specific matter rather than the whole practice area, the question a client asks before they are ready to call, the neighbourhood or nearby town rather than the metropolitan area, and the language or community your lawyers serve. Those pages rank sooner, bring enquiries that are closer to instructing you, and build the authority that the broader terms eventually need. We plan the first six months around them and say so in the plan, so nobody is surprised in month four.

What does it cost?

Flat monthly retainers that start at 1,750, 3,350 and 6,700 US dollars a month. A firm fixing its base and one practice area usually fits the first; a firm growing several practice areas with links and intake work usually needs the second or third. Details are on the pricing page. Plans run month to month.

What will we not do?

Promise a ranking, a number of cases or a date. Publish a testimonial, a result or a specialist claim your professional rules do not allow. Write legal advice under your name without a lawyer's review. Buy links or reviews. Any agency willing to do those things for you is creating a risk that lands on your licence, not theirs.

What do we need from you?

A partner or manager who can approve pages within a week, a lawyer per practice area willing to review drafts, access to the site, analytics and profiles, and a clear view of which matters you most want more of.

Definitions of the terms here are in the glossary. If you are still deciding between an agency, a freelancer and an in-house hire, our comparison of agency, in-house and freelance SEO sets out the trade-offs honestly.

أسئلة تتكرر علينا

  • How long does SEO take for a law firm?

Local and technical fixes can show within weeks. Practice-area pages in competitive areas such as personal injury or family law usually take six months or more to rank in a large city, and the most contested terms longer. We tell you which terms are realistic for your first quarter before you sign.

  • Do you understand the advertising rules for lawyers?

We know they exist, that they differ by jurisdiction, and that they cover things like testimonials, claims about results and specialist titles. We are not your regulator or your ethics counsel, so a lawyer at your firm approves every page before it is published, and we keep claims conservative by default.

  • Should we be on legal directories?

Usually yes, on the reputable ones for your jurisdiction. They often rank for the same searches you want, they feed the sources AI assistants quote, and a consistent profile on them supports your own site. We help you choose, complete and keep them consistent.

  • Can you get our firm recommended by ChatGPT?

We can improve the odds and measure it, but no one controls an assistant's answer. For lawyer recommendations, assistants lean on directories, review platforms and lists, so we make those accurate and make your practice-area pages easy to quote.

  • Will you write legal content?

We draft plain-language explanations of process, timelines, costs and what to do next. A lawyer at your firm reviews each page for accuracy and is named on it. We never give legal advice on your behalf or promise outcomes.

  • What about intake and calls?

It is often where a firm loses the most. We look at how enquiries reach you: forms, calls, chat and after-hours handling, and fix the parts of the site that stop a worried visitor getting in touch.

  • Do you work with firms in several practice areas?

Yes. We plan by practice area, because each has different searches, competitors and value per case, and put the effort where the firm most wants growth.
